NTUH automates outpatient pharmacy
National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) has recently completed the installation of a fully automated unit-dose dispensing machine and conveyor system in its West Campus outpatient pharmacy, housed in a century-old cultural heritage building.
According to NTUH, the system dispenses nearly 3,800 outpatient medication boxes per day from a single machine, following a redesign of dispensing workflows, integration with hospital information systems, and updates to inventory management, all implemented while maintaining pharmacy operations within the site's structural constraints.
NTUH said the project required phased construction and cross-department coordination to preserve the historic building, setting a benchmark for large-scale pharmacy automation within an active outpatient setting in Taiwan.

KL International Hospital has signed a memorandum of understanding with Royal Philips to collaborate on smart hospital initiatives and technology-enabled care delivery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Under the MOU, KLIH and Philips will explore a joint technology roadmap covering workflow optimisation, data management, and patient-centric systems, including the potential development of a hospital clinical command centre using real-time patient data and predictive analytics to support clinical and operational decision-making.
The agreement, a media release notes, also establishes a framework for long-term collaboration, including joint R&D, governance through a joint working committee, and alignment with Malaysia's regulatory, data security, and healthcare system requirements.
IIT Kharagpur, Max Healthcare enter robotics collab with Intuitive
The Max Institute of Laparoscopic, Robotic, Bariatric Surgery & GI Surgery and the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpurhave each partnered with US-based Intuitive Surgical on separate initiatives spanning robotic surgery research, training, and clinical collaboration in India.
Under an MOU, the Max Institute and Intuitive will focus on structured surgeon training, outcome benchmarking, and participation in clinical research for approved robotic-assisted procedures.
Meanwhile, IIT Kharagpur's programme with the listed company's non-profit Intuitive Foundation will develop digital models of surgical care and test early-stage automation using the non-clinical da Vinci Research Kit in laboratory settings.
