NCCS to set up AI-driven drug discovery facility
The National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) has recently received SG$4.5 million ($3.5 million) gift from the Verdant Foundation in support of its new cancer drug discovery facility.
Based on a press release, the upcoming centre will harness local plant biodiversity and advanced AI techniques to identify and develop novel cancer therapies.
The gift adds to the earlier SG$5 million ($3.9 million) contribution it received from the same foundation to launch the Cheng Kin Ku Herbal Biodiversity and Medicine Programme, which has been generating genomic and biochemical data on regional plants. NCCS said the new AI-driven facility will mine this dataset with AI to accelerate the discovery of targeted treatments.
