Selangor, Korea partner to deploy senior care devices
Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas), a government-run foundation in the state of Selangor in Malaysia, is set to roll out AI-powered safety devices for elderly residents in care centres.
Yawas recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korean tech firm UNIUNI to deliver infrared safety devices to 100 centres by year-end.
Their partnership aligns with Selangor’s Care Economy Policy 2024-2030 and South Korea's Global K-Inno Programme, which seeks to promote technology-driven elderly care innovation.
Chulalongkorn University unveils long-read genome sequencing for newborns
The Center of Excellence in Medical Genetics at the Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Medicine has launched a project using long-read whole-genome sequencing to screen newborns for 113 genetic diseases.
In a press statement, the university said the initiative aims to enable early detection and intervention through precision medicine to improve infants' health outcomes.
The project will recruit 300 pregnant volunteers in its first year, potentially laying the groundwork for a nationwide newborn genome screening program.
HMI Medical expands AI-powered radiology services
HMI Medical, a private healthcare group based in Singapore, has opened a new centre integrating AI-enabled imaging technologies from Siemens Healthineers to boost its diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
According to a media statement, HMI Radiology features advanced MRI, CT, mammography, and X-ray systems that deliver faster, more comfortable scans and support image-guided biopsy procedures for precise, minimally invasive diagnosis.
This expansion is part of a five-year strategic partnership launched in 2021 between the HMI Group and Siemens Healthineers, a SG$32 million ($24 million) collaboration to promote digitalisation, AI-driven diagnostics, and Centres of Excellence in cancer, neuroscience, and cardiovascular care across Singapore and Malaysia.
Asia University to build sovereign AI health data platform
Asia University, a private university in Taiwan, has signed an MOU with United States-based life science company NucleicAI to develop an AI-powered sovereign health data platform in Taiwan.
The collaboration will migrate Asia University’s health and life science data to the platform, which will enable secure, in-country data sharing and advanced biomedical analytics and support privacy-preserving AI insights, genomics research, and predictive medicine.
