Researchers will use big data to eliminate the issues of monitoring infectious diseases on a global level, such as tracking disease elimination campaigns, detecting co-infections and increasing rare disease detection in high-risk populations.

Four Cleveland-based medical researchers - two with the Cleveland Clinic, one with University Hospitals and another from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine - each received seven-year, multi-million dollar awards from the National Institutes of Health.

The partnership aims to provide continuous monitoring to avoid readmissions, erratic clinic visits.

The funding will help integrate PMP data into provider and pharmacist clinical workflow, using NarxCare technology developed by Kentucky-based Appriss, which will connect the state's PMP to provider and pharmacy EHRs.
