The federal government will give the healthcare workforce $130.8 million in grants, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced Friday. The awards include $50.5 million for state-of-the-art training equipment and technology, such as e-learning tools, video, audio and interactive learning systems and simulators.

According to an August CHIME survey, 28 percent of CIOs expect to qualify for stimulus funding in the first six months of fiscal year 2011, which begins on October 1, 2010. An additional 62 percent said they expect to qualify between April 1, 2011, and September 30, 2012 - the end of Stage 1 of the incentive program.
