Vendor Notebook: T-System, Inc. EDIS contributes to NeHII

T-System, Inc. announced that Great Plains Regional Medical Center is delivering enhanced access to patient information across the facility and the greater medical community using T SystemEV, its emergency department information system. With T SystemEV, Great Plains is now contributing emergency department (ED) health information to the Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII), the nation’s first and most successful statewide HIE organization. NeHII provides health information for more than 1.5 million patients in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri to authorized physicians, hospitals, clinics and health insurance companies across the region.

McKesson has announced that Riverside Methodist Hospital, part of OhioHealth, plans to implement its CytoCare robot as part of its initiative to drive efficiencies and improve safety for staff and patients via IV Automation. CytoCare is the only proven automation solution for compounding hazardous IVs used for chemotherapy and monoclonal antibody therapy. The new technology will enable the 800-bed facility to meet the anticipated growth within its Cancer Services department without requiring additional staff.

McKesson has also announced that three of its physician EHR and practice management solutions have received Complete EHR certification by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), deeming the systems 2011/2012 compliant and capable of supporting meaningful use criteria under the HITECH Act. Practice Partner, MedisoftClinical and Lytec MD are the latest McKesson EHRs to receive ONC-ATCB certification. The company’s Horizon Clinicals software was certified by the Drummond Group last month.

Medicity has been selected by the Children's Medical Center of Dayton, to power bidirectional health information exchange (HIE) between the medical center, affiliated physicians and other partners in its healthcare community. Dayton Children's will implement Medicity's Novo Grid infrastructure – patented technology for connecting care teams and integrating with electronic health records (EHRs) – to distribute results, reports, and face sheets from the hospital's Epic clinical systems and McKesson registration systems to community providers.

Medsphere Systems Corporation and Lutheran Medical Center announced the successful implementation of Medsphere’s OpenVista EHR solution throughout the hospital. The full service 476-bed teaching hospital is now on track to achieve meaningful use. Since implementing OpenVista only a few weeks ago, LMC has embraced the comprehensive open source health IT system throughout the facility. Clinician adoption of the system, the key to meeting meaningful use and true clinical transformation, is virtually universal. Now in its first stage toward a paperless environment, LMC physicians are entering 93 percent of medications through OpenVista’s Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) Module, far surpassing the 30 percent required by the federal government for meaningful use.

Summit Healthcare, a maker of healthcare system integration and task automation technology, has partnered with Citizens Memorial Healthcare, a full service acute care hospital located in Bolivar, Missouri. CMH came to evaluate the Summit Healthcare interface engine technology as one way to help the organization gain control of its interface environment and automate processes. Citizens will be implementing the Summit Healthcare interface engine, Summit Express Connect, which will enable CMH to lay a foundation to meet its strategic interconnectivity goals by leveraging its existing interfaces

HeartMath has announced the launch of the emWave Program for Stopping Emotional Eating, which includes an interactive handheld device that helps people identify the emotional triggers that cause them to make unhealthy food choices. In addition to the device, a 5-step program combines various modules designed to help users focus on psychological factors and create new positive associations that enable them to keep from engaging in emotional eating.


Viztek has been selected by Prime Radiology to supply a comprehensive, integrated radiology IT solution along with computed radiography (CR) hardware for its new imaging center location in Edison, N.J. The multi-modality site with five radiologists will install Viztek’s Opal-RAD web-based PACS, Opal-RIS web-based RIS and billing software to support a full range of modalities.

InterSystems Corporation has announced that the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) has chosen the InterSystems Ensemble rapid integration and development platform for  enterprise-wide integration. InterSystems specializes in advanced integration, database, and business intelligence technologies for breakthrough applications.

eLINCx, which was founded earlier this year to provide quality healthcare services to central Ohio communities, and GE Healthcare announced that eLINCx will implement GE Healthcare’s eHealth Information Exchange across Wooster Community Hospital, Dunlap Community Hospital and more than a dozen physician practices. eLINCx will first implement GE’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) to support physicians when viewing patient clinical summary data from across the provider community.  The HIE will provide data to GE Healthcare’s own Centricity EMR, as well as non-GE clinical software products.

RemitDATA, an expert in reimbursement and utilization data and analysis solutions in the outpatient healthcare market, has announced a new RemitPARTNER program agreement with MedEvolve, a provider of practice management and revenue cycle management services. The strategic partnership will allow MedEvolve’s customers to have access to RemitDATA’s next generation SaaS-based reimbursement and utilization platform, which provides a level of transparency never seen before by physicians and practice administrators. MedEvolve’s customers will be able to receive custom alerts on reimbursement, utilization, productivity and compliance issues that they can set according to their specific measurement needs.

DataPhysics Research, a developer of advanced diagnostic imaging solutions, introduced CaseReader, a next-generation intelligent post-processing software solution that dramatically improves how CT, PET-CT and MRI image data is organized, managed, analyzed and reported. CaseReader deals rapidly with vast amounts of 2D image data, produces volumetric 3D images that help speed diagnosis, and radically streamlines the entire review and reporting workflow process.

Perceptive Software, a provider of enterprise content management solutions, announced Interact for Lexmark, a jointly developed Embedded Solutions Framework (eSF) application that integrates Perceptive's flagship document management imaging and workflow software – ImageNow – into select Lexmark multifunction products. Serving as a gateway to manage complex business workflows within ImageNow, Interact for Lexmark enables Lexmark's enterprise customers to intelligently capture information at the point of creation through Lexmark MFPs and route it quickly and securely across an enterprise, avoiding costly transportation, errors, and time delays associated with centralized scanning services.
 
Cephalon and Mesoblast Limited have announced a strategic alliance to develop and commercialize novel adult Mesenchymal Precursor Stem Cell (MPC) therapeutics for degenerative conditions of the cardiovascular and central nervous systems. These conditions include Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Parkinson's Disease, and Alzheimer's Disease. The alliance also extends to products for augmenting hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in cancer patients.

peerVue, the maker of workflow and communications solutions for imaging, announces new mobile device compatibility for its QICS (Qualitative Intelligence & Communications System). The advanced application transforms existing PACS, RIS, HIS and other healthcare data into qualitative intelligence used to drive virtually an unlimited range of radiology workflows, from critical results communication to emergency room discrepancy management.  The system will now be fully compatible with the iPad, iPhone Android and other similar mobile devices.

Hyland Software, maker of enterprise content management technologies, has released the new OnBase 10.0. The main focus of the OnBase 10.0 solution is the new client. It adds significant changes including: ease of use, more flexible system administration, and accommodating multiple types of IT environments. OnBase 10.0 also extends its case management capabilities with new products, including: Intelligent Automated Indexing, Business process and notation modeler, and Site Provisioning for SharePoint.

QuadraMed has announced that Providence Care selected its electronic health record solution, QuadraMed Computerized-Patient Record (QCPR), to further advance quality of care and drive regional patient data sharing for approximately 117,000 residents of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Providence Care, a major teaching and research center as well as renowned specialty care provider, will implement QCPR, QuadraMed Enterprise Scheduling (QES) and QuadraMed Electronic Document Management (QEDM) at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital; Mental Health Services; Providence Manor; and 18 community locations across southeastern Ontario.

MediClick, a provider of software-as-a-service supply chain solutions in healthcare, has deepened its support of local causes with a donation to the Triangle/Eastern N.C. Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). MediClick’s donation will help with research and research-related education into juvenile diabetes, also known as type 1 diabetes, as JDRF moves its funded research out of the labs and into human clinical trials.

Quest International, a global IT solutions and supply chain services organization, announced that it has signed an authorized channel partner agreement with Carestream Health for their PACS, RIS, Mammography Systems and e-Health Managed Services.
 
NextGen Healthcare Information Systems announced that NextGen Inpatient Clinicals version 2.4 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on December 1, 2010 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable hospital certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

MxSecure, the provider of medical transcription services and clinical documentation software to solo practitioners, physician practices and community health centers, has announced the addition of new features and functionality to its electronic health record (EHR) solution, MxChart. First released in June 2010, MxChart is an affordable, easy-to-operate electronic health record solution that runs on a flexible web-based EHR platform.

Carestream Health announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a Premarket Approval (PMA) supplement for enhanced screens and image processing software for its CR mammography system. Carestream Health’s EHR-M3 screens are its third generation of screens designed specifically for mammography. The system has higher DQE (detective quantum efficiency) with the new screens, which were designed to enhance the quality of the acquired images.  The latest approval also covers the application of Carestream Health’s advanced image processing algorithm that was designed to enhance the overall displayed quality of mammography images.

DR Systems has announced that its Unity RIS/PACS is now in use at HealthCare Partners Medical Group (HCP). The contract for installation and maintenance of the full-featured Unity RIS/PACS in HCP's Region 3 is worth more than $1,000,000. The system will serve as the hub of a RIS/PACS network that will eventually encompass all five of HCP's regions. DR Systems will equip HCP's other four regions into their RIS/PACS network over the next two years.
