Vendor Notebook - HP to automate communication for claims processing

HP, of Palo Alto, Calif., has announced a new solution for insurers that automates customer communications for claims processing. With the new HP Exstream solution for claims correspondence, insurers can benefit from reduced costs, improved customer response times, and can expedite the review and approval process while reducing compliance risks. The new solution extends the powerful HP Exstream back-office communication platform to support this critical front-office business process. It also aims to replace free-form editing with role-based control over areas of templates to help reduce brand and regulatory compliance risks; integrate critical data and content from other systems, help to decrease error-prone, inefficient re-keying and cutting and pasting of content that can result in leakage or undo litigation; update communication templates faster and at lower cost for critical branding revisions and federal and state regulatory changes; and deliver claims communications through customer-preferred channels, including print and electronic.

Summit Healthcare, of Braintree, Mass., a maker of system integration and task automation technology, has announced the launch of its new Summit Provider Exchange solution at the 2010 International MUSE Conference. Summit Provider Exchange is the latest addition to the Summit Apex Suite of integration and automation tools. The new offering is designed to facilitate physician office integration and health exchange participation by integrating bi-directional patient ADT Order and Results data between the hospital and physician office EMR systems. This solution provides healthcare organizations with the ability to connect to an unlimited number of offices with easy customization, mapping and smart routing of data including order control and management features.

BIO-key International, of Wall, N.J., a maker of finger-based biometric identification solutions, has announced that France-based Evidian, has integrated BIO-key’s biometric software into its Enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) solution. Additionally Evidian has successfully deployed this biometric identification solution at two major pharmaceutical companies. Evidian, A Bull Group Company, is the European leader and one of the major worldwide vendors of identity and access management (IAM) software. With Evidian’s Enterprise SSO equipped with BIO-key’s identification software, a user logs in once with the touch of a finger to establish identity. This single authentication method allows the user to gain access to his or her applications, eliminating the need to remember passwords or carry ID tokens which can be easily lost, forgotten or stolen.

athenahealth, of Watertown, Mass., has announced that Vermont Information Technology Leaders, Inc. (VITL), a non-profit organization driving the implementation of electronic medical record systems and health information exchange in the state of Vermont, has selected athenahealth as a VITL Preferred EHR Partner. VITL’s recognition of athenahealth as a Preferred EHR Partner means athenahealth successfully demonstrated the ability to share clinical data via the Vermont Health Information Exchange.

Compuware Corporation, of Detroit, has announced that Baptist Health System (BHS), one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems and employers in Alabama, has selected Compuware’s EHR Service Delivery Solution—powered by Compuware Vantage—to monitor the performance and availability of its Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are being met. With visibility into clinician end-user experience, BHS can now proactively identify and resolve performance issues before they impact patient care and prevent unexpected system downtime, maximizing productivity.

eClinicalWorks, of Westborough, Mass., has announced that Duluth, Minn.-based St. Luke’s, a health care system with hospitals and clinics, has chosen eClinicalWorks comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) solution for its approximately 200 employed physicians and two affiliated practices. This solution includes the eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution, eClinicalWorks’ Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX), eClinicalWorks Patient Portal, Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO), eClinicalMobile and eClinicalMessenger – all designed to extend the use of EHRs beyond the practice’s walls to improve communication with access to real-time information.  

MediConnect Global, of South Jordan, Utah, has announced that it has changed the name of its personal health record (PHR) and consumer health portal, PassportMD (www.PassportMD.com), to myMediConnect (www.myMediConnect.net). The myMediConnect online portal gives individuals everywhere the ability to take ownership of and control over their own health by allowing for the extraction of key elements of his or her medical record into a very simple and intuitive user interface, providing a consolidated summary of a patient’s complete health picture. In addition to having easy access to a summary of their entire health picture, myMediConnect members can maintain medical records of all doctor visits, connect more easily with physicians, save money on medications, track progress towards personal fitness goals and become better educated about healthcare issues.

Dialog Medical, an Atlanta-based provider of informed consent and patient education systems for physician practices and hospitals, has announced that it has become the newest Affinity Program Partner of the American Urological Association (AUA). This partnership will include assistance from the AUA with communicating the benefits of Dialog Medical’s iMedConsent application to its members, as well as preferred pricing for members on the iMedConsent practice edition.
 
Meru Networks, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based maker of virtualized and optimized  802.11n enterprise networking, has unveiled plans to offer a powerful suite of wired and wireless management, spectrum analysis, and  security and compliance services that are designed to optimize Wireless LAN (WLAN) application performance and accelerate the migration to an All-Wireless EnterpriseTM. Integrated directly with the Meru Service Assurance Platform, these new management, security and  diagnostic tools are designed to deliver IT organizations the ability to predictively and proactively manage and optimize the end-to-end  performance of the entire WLAN infrastructure.

Dotmatics, a UK-based informatics company, has been selected by the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research to provide a complete range of drug discovery informatics solutions. The Paterson Institute have licensed and implemented the entire Dotmatics software range including; Browser, Vortex, Studies, Register, Gateway, Pinpoint & Nucleus. The Dotmatics suite will be used for all aspects of early stage drug discovery by providing integrated software from registration to reporting through data querying, data visualization and assay management. BeyondTrust, an Agoura Hills, Calif.-based provider of Privileged Access Lifecycle Management solutions, has announced its new product, PowerBroker Express. PowerBroker Express will enable companies to manage access and log privileged activities on servers and devices in a lighter package, and is ideal for non mission critical infrastructure where granular authorization controls are not required. Express is an agentless streamlined version of PowerBroker that includes transparent session instantiation and granular keystroke logging, to enable customers with a standardized mechanism to monitor and report on privileged activity across their environment.
 
Viztek, of Garner, N.C., has announced that Canandaigua Orthopaedics Associates PC in Canandaigua, N.Y. has chosen Viztek for a complete radiology solution to convert the facility from analog film-based technology to a digital imaging environment with DR, PACS and CR. The site has selected Viztek’s U-Arm DR, Opal-CR and completed the digital hardware package with Viztek’s state of the art Opal-ORTHO PACS designed especially for the orthopedic space.
