Vendor Notebook - Carestream sells imaging IT to Okla.-based providers

Carestream Health, of Rochester, N.Y., has sold fully-featured medical imaging and image information management systems to medical facilities dedicated to serving the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and Citizen Potawatomi Nation, both of Oklahoma. These efficient digital solutions will help improve staff productivity and efficiency, while enhancing patient care at both community healthcare facilities. The Citizen Potawatomi Nation Health Service in Shawnee, Okla., purchased CARESTREAM PACS and a CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution System. With this purchase, the organization has moved from a film and paper-based workflow to an all-digital environment. The CARESTREAM PACS interfaces with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation’s HIS/RIS System.

Viztek, the Garner, N.C.-based radiology solution provider, has announced the installation of its Opal-ORTHO PACS at Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) in Syracuse, N.Y. SOS is a large multi-specialty orthopedic group consisting of 22 specialized orthopedic surgeons and 23 mid-level providers. Specialties range from sports medicine to arthroscopic surgery and knee replacement.

Allscripts, meanwhile, has announced that Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists and the New York Spine and Wellness Center (NYS&WC) have jointly selected the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management solution to enhance the quality of patient care, improve physician and patient communications, and better manage the cost of care delivery for their providers in 11 locations across the Syracuse area.

Cerner Corporation
has announced a strategic partnership with Fort HealthCare, an integrated hospital and health system in Fort Atkinson, Wis., to create a connected health community. Fort HealthCare will work with Cerner to improve the quality of care and make care processes more efficient for more than 120,000 residents in the organization’s service area through the use of Cerner Millennium solutions. By connecting physician offices, clinics, employers and consumers in the community with the hospital, Fort HealthCare can provide an integrated healthcare system that is tailored to the needs of its communities.
 
GlobalMedia Group, of Scottsdale, Ariz., has announced that its CapSure Store and Forward DICOM image automation software has been validated for use within the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) PACS servers following rigorous testing within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ electronic healthcare records (EHR) system. The CapSure and CONI Server applications provide clinicians with the ability to work with, store and forward high resolution, digital images – including real-time video and still images – for secure storage in EMRs.
 
Delta Health Technologies, of Altoona, Penn., has announced the launch of RhapsodyCare, a breakthrough software solution designed to streamline the unique documentation requirements of inpatient hospice care. RhapsodyCare has been developed to blend into the environment and work flow of a hospice house, and to allow clinicians to focus on patient comfort while ensuring consistent documentation.

Ingenix and Health Language, Inc. (HLI) have launched the Ingenix Global Code Manager, a solution that translates between the ICD-9 and ICD-10 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision) medical coding systems – a capability that will help health care organizations implement ICD-10 by October 1, 2013, as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Zayo Group and Adesta will together facilitate the deployment of a new $20M fiber optic medical network for the Rural Nebraska Healthcare Network (RNHN), a consortium of nine rural hospitals and related clinics in western Nebraska. Utilizing federal funding under the Rural Healthcare Pilot Program of the Federal Communications Commission, in conjunction with funding provided by Zayo Group, the RNHN will connect 9 primary care hospitals and dozens of affiliated clinics creating one of the most advanced and robust medical technology networks in Nebraska.
