Montpellier CHRU, a Paris-based academic healthcare provider, has plans to implement a new hospital and clinical information system across its seven facilities.

The new solution will be provided through an agreement with Afga Healthcare, a Morstel, Belgium-based provider of health IT solutions.

Montpellier officials said that, as an academic hospital, it provides critical care, teaching and research services. It is the country's fifth largest university hospital with 3,000 beds and 9,000 staff members.

"This new agreement and the partnership are of strategic importance to Agfa HealthCare, not only on the national level but, thanks to the prominence of the CHRU, on an international level as well," says Philippe Blanco, Managing Director of tory/agfa-healthcare" target="_blank" class="directory-item-link">Agfa HealthCare France.

Officials said the facility expects to use Agfa HealthCare's ORBIS patient information system to enable information exchanges in real time between all specialists and nursing staff involved throughout the patient care process. The roll-out, they said, is part of a larger project to further streamline and improve the facilities' operations with some new future business intelligence tools.

"We will increase the efficiency of the Montpellier CHRU through more rigorous management of our healthcare provision," says Alain Manville, Managing Director of the Montpellier CHRU. "Our partnership with Agfa HealthCare is therefore truly strategic."
