NHS Lincolnshire connects with wireless LAN architecture

By Kyle Hardy , Community Editor

NHS Lincolnshire has completed the deployment of a new wireless LAN architecture into 12 of its key healthcare facilities.

NHS officials said the Aerohive WLAN, developed by Aerohive Networks, is supporting an organization-wide strategy to mobilize healthcare delivery in its community hospitals and clinics, and ensure secure, resilient connectivity for the 24/7 delivery of mission-critical medical and administrative applications and data.

“Mobility is a key enabler of healthcare provision, significantly improving the availability of healthcare professionals, bedside medical care, and accelerating the diagnosis-to-treatment process,” said Tony Arnold MBCS, senior network and systems manager for NHS Lincolnshire and director of the implementation. “The benefits make a compelling proposition for management and healthcare professionals, who face daily budget and resource challenges.”

“My priority, then, was to identify a wireless infrastructure capable of supporting the evolving demands of a healthcare environment that could deliver continuous connectivity, was resilient and secure and could be easily deployed and managed,” said Arnold.
