HIMSS announces 2009 award recipients, scholarships

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society has announced its 2009 award recipients and awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships to student members.

"Each year we see significant and innovative efforts to improve the delivery of healthcare with information technology from our HIMSS award recipients, who are nominated in the four award categories of industry service, HIMSS service, publications and chapters," said Erica Pantuso, HIMSS' vice president of member services.

The 2009 award recipients are:

Publication Award – Book of the Year

The HIMSS Foundation annually awards more than $60,000 in cash scholarships to HIMSS student members who have achieved academic excellence and have the potential to be future leaders in the healthcare information and management systems industry. Seven scholarships are awarded to students deemed most deserving, as determined by the HIMSS Foundation Scholarship Review Board.
