PAUL, MN - 3M Health Information Systems has introduced a new mobile application for the BlackBerry and other Windows mobile smartphones designed to facilitate physician diction. 3M Mobile Dictation Software is an application that offers physicians the ability to use their mobile phones as a means to make dictations during patient visits. 3M officials said the solution adheres to the full range of HIPAA security measures and hospital-specific guidelines for encryption and authentication. The technology allows physicians to view patient lists, search patient IDs, and display the most current patient information on the smartphone screen.
Cardinal Health tracks supplies with Connect System
DUBLIN, OH - Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health, has developed a new inventory system called Connect System that is designed to utilized custom bar codes and scanners to reduce lab time spent on supply orders. Cardinal Health officials said the system helps labs create a consistent ordering process for all products while maintaining access to other products at appropriate times. The system is expected to help labs better control supply expenses by reducing unnecessary inventory. Other features of the system allow for the creating of a standardized ordering process for supplies, improving patient safety and efficiency by flagging expired products, and supporting multiple workflows.

NEW YORK - Brooklyn-based start-up DocMatcher.com has launched a personalized healthcare Web platform designed to help people find a doctor to match their specific health needs. Officials said after the patient and doctor are personally matched using an algorithm, patients can book an appointment on-line, store and share their medical information, read expert articles and communicate over DocMatcher.com’s secure Web interface. DocMatcher.com’s office management features are also expected to benefit physician and other clinical staff by allowing them to build, grow and efficiently manage their practices.
