By Mary Mosquera

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has awarded Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) a contract to provide the public health agency with technical solutions that will enable electronic health record systems to exchange data with state and regional registries that hold immunization information.

The contract supports meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs) in reporting laboratory results under the HITECH Act.

SAIC will also supply technology for electronic lab reporting capability between public health and clinical care providers, according to a July 12 announcement.

The contract is valued at $3.7 million for 19 months.
