Care UK, an independent provider of health and social care services, has announced a partnership with Becrypt security solutions to protect company data and comply with government security regulations.
"The company has grown considerably over recent years, which has meant that our hardware estate has increased considerably and we wanted to implement an enhanced security solution that would safeguard data against accidental loss and theft across the estate," said Owain Jones, IM&T project manager of Care UK. “Becrypt’s solutions enable us to be fully FIPS compliant whilst being easy to use. It also allows us to include PDAs and other hardware platforms."
Care UK offers tailor-made healthcare services, operates 60 nursing and residential home for older people and provides more than 120,000 hours of care and support every week for people living at home. It is also the largest operator of NHS indepndent-sector treatment centers in the UK.
Care UK will implement Becrypt's DISK Protect and Enterprise Manager solutions on all laptops, which number more than 500. Company officials say DISK Protect’s FIPS accreditation will help them meet government data security compliance requirements.
Jones said DISK Protect will installed on each machine separately with dual factor authentication using Active Directory. In the future, he said, it will be rolled out automatically from Becrypt Enterprise Manager with single sign-on, in order to make it as transparent to the user as possible.
