Insight Medical Imaging, a Alberta-based group practice of 20 radiologists, has rolled out a new PACS imaging solution at multiple new work stations.
According to practice officials, the resident radiologists read as many as three hundred thousand studies yearly. The practice offers services for X-ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI, fluoroscopy, CT, and mammography at thirteen clinics in Edmonton and the surrounding area. A member of the Canadian Association of Radiologists, Insight participates in the Alberta Breast Screening Program and delivers screening results to referring physicians through the NetCare Provincial Repository.
IntelePACS Breast Imaging, developed by Montreal-based Intelerad Medical Systems, was rolled out at the group practice's newly installed work stations.
“Our radiologists have been using IntelePACS for several years now,” said Dr. Roger Holub, radiologist at Insight. “IntelePACS Breast Imaging allows us to work from the same interface for all studies and priors, including mammography. We achieve significant efficiency gains with the ability to provide final results as soon as we get the studies. Now we have the capability to offer a better service to referring physicians and patients with same-day results for all digital exams.”
Insight looked into different options for their software solution when the decision was made to purchase eleven digital mammography units. Practice officials said using the stock was an option but ended up creating multiple obstacles. The Intelerad IntelePACS Breast Imaging solution, they said, is used by as many radiologists as needed and provides secure access to multi-modality images.
