2010 Most Wired Survey of hospitals now open

By Molly Merrill , Associate Editor

The 2010 Most Wired Survey of hospitals is now open and available online. Officials say the survey has been redesigned to produce better data.

The survey, conducted in cooperation with the American Hospital Association, McKesson Corp. and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), includes new and revised questions based on the meaningful use definition recently recommended by the HIT Policy Committee.

The survey is open to all hospitals and health systems and recognizes organizations for their achievements in four focus areas: infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety and the care continuum.

Hospitals will be ranked in five levels this year, and recognition will no longer be limited to 100 organizations.
Other changes include increased CIO involvement in survey development and use of a transparent scoring methodology, said officials.

To submit information for the 12th annual survey, click here. The deadline for submissions is March 15.

Every organization submitting a survey receives a benchmarking analysis of its data.

Participating hospitals may be named to the 2010 Hospitals & Health Networks list of Most Wired organizations, to be released in July.
